Directions

By Car

From the Causeway Stores/Post Office in Chiddingstone Causeway follow the B2027 west. Take the third turning on the right into Bore Place Road. It is signposted ‘Bore Place’.

Travel along the avenue of trees; at the first junction, where the road narrows go straight on (right hand of fork). After around half a mile take the first turning left into our drive, signposted ‘Bore Place’. Continue along the drive, over the cattle grids until you reach the car park on the right.

Please note: the postal address is Chiddingstone, but the nearest village is Chiddingstone Causeway.

By Rail from London:

A frequent service runs from London Charing Cross, Waterloo East and London Bridge to Sevenoaks station. Travel time 30-35 minutes.

There is a less frequent service from London Victoria: change at Bromley South for Sevenoaks.

The nearest smaller station is Penshurst is around 2.6 miles away and has frequent connections to Tonbridge and Redhill, but it is not easy to get a taxi from here but if you are happy to walk it is closest.

Hildenborough and Hever stations are both about five miles away and relatively flat.

By Taxi:

Taxis are available from Sevenoaks station. If you are staying on site we recommend pre-booking taxis to pick you up from Bore Place. Beeline is a local company that knows the venue well.

By Air:

London Gatwick is the nearest airport (approx. 22 miles / 45 minutes by car)

Parking:

There is free car parking on site. Please note that currently there aren't any Electric Vehicle Charging Points at Bore Place, the nearest ones are located in Edenbridge.

Activities near Bore Place

Bore Place is situated on a private 500-acre organically managed estate in rolling Kent countryside.

Walks at Bore Place

The Bore Place walks weave their way through the fields and woodlands of the 500-acre organic dairy farm, offering panoramic views across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. These gentle circular routes reveal secrets of a landscape that has been farmed and worked for over 1,000 years.

Cycling

From Bore Place you can explore the pretty villages of Weald, Chiddingstone or Hever, or there is a gentle (if a little bumpy in places) 3km ride to Bough Beech reservoir.

Electric bikes can be hired from a local company Country Hire & Go who will deliver to and collect from Bore Place.

Things to do and see!

Bore Place is surrounded by a mix of historic landmarks and natural attractions, offering something for everyone.

For history lovers, Hever Castle (15 mins by car, around 1.5 hours on foot) showcases Anne Boleyn’s childhood home, complete with a moated fortress and stunning gardens, while Penshurst Place (10 mins by car, about an hour’s walk) offers a grand 14th-century manor with impressive Tudor interiors and beautiful grounds. Further afield, Chartwell (20 mins), Winston Churchill’s former home, and Ightham Mote (25 mins), a medieval moated manor, provide fascinating glimpses into the past. Knole (30 mins), with its grand house and deer-filled parkland, is perfect for those who enjoy both history and nature.

For a change of pace, Chiddingstone Village (10 mins) is a charming, postcard-perfect spot with traditional pubs and quaint tearooms. Emmetts Garden (15 mins), a National Trust site, offers beautiful seasonal gardens with sweeping views over the Weald. Nature lovers can also explore Bough Beech Reservoir (10 mins), a haven for birdwatching and peaceful waterside walks.

While some sites are walkable, others are best reached by car or bike via quiet country lanes. Whether you're looking for history, nature, or a charming village to explore, there’s plenty to see nearby!
